ECDIS Training - The complete package

The Professional Yachtsmen’s Association British Marine Federation Superyacht UK

THE COMPLETE PACKAGE TO ELECTRONIC CHART DISPLAY AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS (ECDIS)

The regulations affecting the use of electronics in the navigational safety of ships upon the high seas is in a process of change.  Vessels of a certain size, type and build date will have to look carefully at the way they navigate and more importantly, at the equipment they fit and personnel they train to operate it.

Da Gama are already ahead of the game in respect to the importance of this situation and as such are working with a number of companies within the ECDIS community to ensure the safety of the professional mariner is in no way compromised as the transition to electronic navigation rolls out.  It is with this emphasis on safety that they put together the ECDIS Revolution which aims to bring together everyone from the IMO to the operator on the bridge of the ship and help in the two way flow of information and guidance.

The steps to acceditation for those vessels wishing to operate paperless or simply for those members of crew who want to get ahead of the game and obtain the necessary certification is something Da Gama are able to help with.  We provide a complete service that will cover all steps from the project management of which ECDIS to purchase, through to achieving Flag State accreditation for your fleet.  To do this we work with one of the UK's top training schools where the instructors, like us, each have years of operational experience in the use of ECDIS and are now regularly asked to consult with the manufacturers for the continual development of the equipment.

ECDIS Limited have taken the IMO 1.27 course model for the instruction of ECDIS and not only achieved DNV, MCA and many other Flag State approvals, but have significantly rasied the standard.  Their five day course is now regarded as one of, if not the best in the country.  They can provide generic training to meet the necessary regulations in addition to type specific training on certain ECDIS, the number of which is growing all the time.  Having trained crews in both Superyachts and the Merchant shipping community, their course notes, guides and handy cribs are found in more and more crew cabins and on the bridges of an increasing number of ships.

For further information, please contact us so that we can discuss with you a completely tailored package to bring you as an individual, your ship or fleet through the transition from paper to electronic navigation.
